Bit of a late poem of the month!

“But the seafowl is gone to her nest,
The beast is laid down in his lair;
Even here is a season of rest,
And I to my cabin repair.
There is mercy in every place,
And mercy, encouraging thought!
Gives even affliction a grace
And reconciled man to his lot.”
– ‘The solitude of Alexander Selkirk’ by W.Cowper.

Chocolate Cruffins!!!!

Hello All!

Recently, I dived or stirred into sourdough starter and I am so excited! It is so much fun, it’s literally a pet and I’ve named it but that will be a whole other post. This post is sharing with you a product from the sourdough starter – CRUFFINS! OMG they are amazing! So much butter – you can never have enough butter. So, a cruffin is a croissant cross muffin. They are so much fun to make and super easy. You even get to relax for 3 hours while the cruffins ferment and they only take 20 minutes to bake. If you’re wanting to surprise loved ones and also look like you’re a professional baker, this is the recipe for you!!!

I’ve basically eaten them all. They are sooooo filling and not too sweet, they are actually quite plain so you can add custard, ice-cream or if you’re like me they are just enough as they are.

More posts on the way! Enjoy!

God Bless xo

What happens when you deactivate Instagram…

Hello fellow friends,

During October I felt lead to fast Instagram for a week and boy, how much happened in that week in my spiritual life and personal life, I can’t tell ya. So, I decided for 2020 I’d set the intention to get off Instagram for a week once a month and I started my second go-around midday today.

Already, I have completed multiple tasks, more than I usually ever do in a day. One, it’s not too hot today, I hate the heat, it drains me and my body will give me all signs that this is NOT okay! I love the cold! It makes me feel awake and alive, I can complete multiple tasks and I cannot wait to get outside. I miss the cold so much. However, I am thankful we have humid hot weather where we live and not dry heat. Humid is a lot nicer, you’re skin stays moist and supple and you don’t feel like your bones are disintegrating inside your body like dry heat. Anyway, I noticed last time I fasted off Instagram, I did so much throughout my day creatively, chores wise and just became more productive in general.  Even in my imagination!

Below, you will find pictures of proof that fasting from which ever social media platform has you by the neck, works. When I say fasting, I mean choosing to give up something to spend more time with God. It can be social media, food altogether or a food, idol or thing you use as a coping mechanism instead of relying on God (all things you rely on instead of God are idols). It requires a heart of sacrifice and humility and it to celebrate God in another way. I am still an amateur at fasting but it is another intention for 2020.

What did I get up to today you ask? Well, I made reusable tea bags out of scrap fabric that was given to me by a lovely and generous lady I met a few months ago. Next, I cleaned and cleared my room to take photos for the real estate as we are selling our house. AND I baked bagels for the first time!! When it comes to chores, which I have gotten a lot better at doing thanks to Melbourne, I did a load in the dishwasher (usually there’s more than one but today was a nice quiet day), a load of clothes washing and I even planned out my first week of January. This may not seem like much to some but the things I accomplished are creative things. When I’m consumed by other peoples creative images on Instagram (which are amazing and beautiful) all my creativity gets shoved to the edge of my brain, clogged up to the point of comparison to others lives. So unhealthy!! The Bible says not to envy others or other peoples’ things, because God is enough and what He has given us is enough. God is a present God and He is also a future thinking God but He wants us to be patient and trust Him in the present with the present and with the future.

“You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans?

– 1 Corinthians 3:3

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.”

– 1 Corinthians 13:4

“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

– Exodus 20:17

God wants us as disciples of Christ to understand that what we have here on Earth is only temporary BUT we can use them for eternal purposes, such as our heart posture towards Jesus Christ and to others. Jesus wants us to understand His biblical economy which is to give and keep on giving.

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

– Hebrews 13:5

“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.
In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life”
– 1 Timothy 6:17-19
“Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.”
– Luke 12:33
“You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.
– Revelation 3:17
There are so many verses in both the New and Old Testament of the Bible about generosity and God’s economy I just can’t put them all into one post! I love how God thinks, He always challenges me to die to self and dwell completely in the Spirit and heart of Christ. I fail – often, but He knows and sees all and He knows my intentions and I love Him for being the safest being in the universe. There is no one else I would want to be vulnerable with, to lay my heart out on the table of sacrifice and beat merely for His eternal existence.
On that note, here are the pictures from today’s productivity! I hope it inspires you to sacrifice something that consumes you for something that fulfills you :).
Thank you all and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
God Bless.
Love From,
P.S. I also took pictures and uploaded this blog! How productive is that!

Homemade Apple Crumble + Custard for Christmas!

Hello All,

I hope you had a wonderful, joy filled CHRISTmas day! I’m sorry this is a few days late but a plan of mine for 2020 is more blogs, more freuquently. Cooking is such a wonderful therapy the Lord has blessed us with the ability to do and here is some delicious homemade apple crumble (recipe below) and homemade custard (recipe from Paul West! Also below.)

The inspiration for apple crumble is from the beautiful Swedish women overflowing YouTube, well at least my YouTube feed anyway. There is Maria at ‘Northern Heart’, Joanna Jinton, Michelle at ‘Daughter of the Woods’ and ‘Fairyland Cottage’. I love their lifestyle and slow living, moving with the seasons and becoming one with nature. I dream of that life a lot. They inspire me creatively and to push boundaries and try new things. So, I baked my first apple crumble and it was delectable! Also, Paul West from ‘River Cottage Australia’ is a huge inspiration of mine. In his TV series ‘River Cottage Australia’ he lives off the land of our country in the Riverina area and does it beautifully. He is such an amazing cook and farmer and I followed his homemade custard recipe. I never want to go back to store bought custard, after tasting this rich, silky, lightly golden dessert, you’ll wonder how you have lived life for as long as you have without it. As soon as you pour the gold deliciousness over your crunchy, sweet apple crumble you’ll die. Right there. In your chair. And that will be the end of it.

Also, you will see below, I gathered up some native gum nuts and pine nuts and other aussie bush limbs to paint and decoration to dress our house in for Christmas. It was fun, and we did it all with the apple crumble and custard by our sides, slowly seeping in the richness of the dessert and splattering gold, silver, white and other Christmas colours everywhere.

Anyway, I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful weather and getting ready for a new decade!

God Bless!

Love from,

Laura xo

P.s. I apologise for the lack of photos! The internet isn’t letting me upload them properly. As soon as it lets me I’ll upload more 🙂

What!? How is it almost 2020?

Hello All!

Oh my goodness! I can’t believe it’s one month away from 2020! How has the past two decades (plus 4 years) gone so fast?? And how has this year gone so fast?

The beginning of this year I was studying a Major in Photography in Melbourne, so sure I was going to be in that beautiful city for another year and yet, half way through and I’m back home in NSW studying a Bachelor of Theology. So many things are in the works currently and I don’t even know where to begin. However, I am able to at least write it all down in a list and pretend I know what I’m doing. In the past I’ve always used the term “goals” for new years resolutions but I realised that I never achieve my goals, but I always achieve my plans. So for 2020 I’m calling my “goals” plans to help achieve everything that is set out for the new year.

Social media is a very consuming thing. This month I deactivated my Instagram account for a week and a half and it felt so good. So much happened in my spiritual and emotional life that week that it felt like 3 months and there wasn’t many thoughts about Instagram. The first plan for 2020 is to deactivate for a week each month. Now, the choice of deactivating is because I will be very tempted to go back on if my account is still accessible to everybody else. I have very little self control when it comes to these things, so a hard boundary like deactivating is what I need to grow in that area.

I have deleted my Youtube channel and have decided to upload my short poetic films to IGTV (Instagram) instead. If you’d love to check it out please click on the link below, I’d love to have you there. And please don’t be shy! My account is private but don’t be afraid to send a request :).

Something I have been dreaming of my whole life is being able to sew and design and make my own clothing. As a curvaceous and somewhat tall woman, it is hard to find dresses an appropriate length, pants that actually fit and clothes I like in my price range (unemployed full time student). So, praise the LORD! I met this lovely lady in our area who is preparing sewing classes for 2020 and I am IN! I can’t wait to learn all about it and get started! And the best thing is, I don’t have to worry if I’m going to fail because it’s not a paid course like everything is now days. It would be so nice if “just learning” classes were more available for people in lower economic areas and other areas. It would help form a healthier stronger community, introduce people to trades and skills they would never of been able to gain otherwise and would just be a whole lotta fun!

Another plan of mine, which is a more serious one, is to tackle my health (which I have started this year) so there is no longer a hindrance to my marks in my uni work. At the beginning of this year I got glandular fever three times! And was battling the after affects for months until I got prayer a couple of months ago. This then leads us to the next plan of calorie counting. I have been calorie counting for the past few weeks and it’s actually fun! I’ve slipped a couple of days but nothing over the top. They say to eat 1200 calories a day, for women, in order to lose weight and increase your physical activity. So that is what I am doing.

Travel plans! I’ve lost the ownership of my car because of finances and my brother sold it as it was his before I got it so that was sad but I’m not gonna let it stop me from travelling. Melbourne is still calling me and I’m hoping to visit my Melbourne fam in Jan/Feb 2020 and also a special trip in July. I’ll release more about that as time goes on.

Anyway, there are a few more plans for the future but I don’t want to bore you with myself. Therefore, I will end this blog here.

I will be posting again before Christmas, so until then, God bless and I hope you’re finding yourself in the joyous spirit of Christmas!

Pumpkin cake with maple cream cheese…

ohh goodness me,

This cake is delicious and so fulfilling, I tell ya! There’s this photo from my great grandparents wedding of their sweet, simple wedding cake. It’s in black and white, although it looks more sepia now due to age. It was a one layer cake on a cake stand just like this one and it had a little church bell decoration on top.
And the best part is… it’s completely out of focus. All the lovely Australian shrubbery in the background is crystal clear and the main event of the photo is a wonderful celebratory blur. I hope I have pictures just like it at my wedding.

Anyway, I just had to turn this picture of my first pumpkin cake with maple cream cheese dressing into a black and white vintage capture. It’s to die for! With lightly sprinkled lavender flowers and dried cranberries for rose petals.

Bon appetite!

God Bless,

Laura x

Mr & Mrs Grauner

Hello All!

I am so ecstatic that I get to share this post with you today. Where to begin? 1995. My Mum and her best friend got married and pregnant around the same time. Bianca was born one month and a day before, me. Then came along all the other siblings (more on her end) and we all grew up together until my family moved north when Bianca and I were the age of 11.

“Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”
That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.” – Genesis 2:22-24

Now, 24, and not a lot of contact for three years due to my studies in Melbourne and life, God blessed me with the greatest honour of capturing Bianca’s wedding. Joey, her now husband had a camera all ready to go and we had about three others on hold because I didn’t own a digital camera at the time. The LORD was so good and really is our provider EL SHADDAI. He thinks about every little detail and He cares.

It was a blessing, watching the union, that the LORD had anointed, Mr and Mrs Joey and Bianca Grauner, to be a glorious and beautiful demonstration of marriage between man and woman, reflecting His love for the church His bride, was beautiful. It was very hard to keep tears back as “I do” was said and trying to capture every precious moment at the same time. Thankfully the photos weren’t foggy like my eyes and now to share their beautiful day!

“Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.
For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,
and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church—
for we are members of his body.” – Ephesians 5:22-33
